CPR as known to many is an abbreviation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation which is a technique used for life saving in emergency situations whereby ones heart stops beating or one cannot breathe. Some of these situations may be like when has been rescued from drowning or when one is having a heart attack. For this and other emergencies, CPR certification courses are very handy as they give one they know how of how to do in such a situation.
Emergencies on the other hand can never be anticipated and only come when they are not expected with then put one in a compromising situation especially if one had not made an effort in putting in place measures to handle such emergencies. For instance, preparation for handling fires can be done by installing fire extinguishers in case there is a fire incidence.
The same is for CPR; its a necessary skill that one never knows when it will come in handy and there is arguably nothing important like saving a life. It is not hand to master but should at least be learnt the right way in order to also avoid bringing up other complications to the victim in the course of saving their life.
In the world of today, the technology has brought forth more advancements that have helped ease how things are done. In this case, people do not have to attend classes that last 6 or even more hours but instead one can take them from their home which is more comfortable and convenient. This also does not inconvenience people when it comes to their schedule as they can do it in their free time.
The other option is that of receiving the training through the organization one is working in; these are corporate programs that are usually meant to empower employee with some of these handy skills as you can never tell when they will come in handy. This option is also convenient as one does it during working time and as part of office work which eliminates the effort of having to create time for it or even finances to enroll in any of these classes.
Taking this course however does not mean that one is a nurse, it only means that one can attend to a person in an emergency before calling the medical practitioners to take over which is somewhat a way of buying sometime before the professionals get to the scene of emergency. This may not be much but at least it keeps one from stop breathing which is something even the doctors cannot do once they are past this.
Some of the taught techniques are how to do chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, checking pulses and determining if ones heart is beating normally. Timing is important when bring a victim back to life as for instance, one should give 2 mouth-to-mouth blows after every 30 pumps. One also needs to know the right place to pump, how to place your hands, and basically just the overall procedure.
Considering how fast the rate of people getting lifestyle diseases is increasing, with diseases such as strokes, diabetes and other cardiac complications, more and more people need to take up these courses in order to compensate the number of people who may be in need your help.
